Dull light blues

Our house is being painted, so the glass of all our windows is covered up with a strange opaque spray, and some of them, with paper as well. We only have a week of this strange vibe of no real sunlight in the house (fingers crossed for good weather!), and: I really dislike it.

I think the dull light is bringing me down. I don't have a jolt of sunny energy to perk up on the morning, and when I'm home on afternoon Zooms, I feel like I'm in a cotton cocoon - not the cozy kind but one that makes me gloomy. Fixing dinners in a grayed-out space makes me move in slow-motion and suggest cereal for dinner instead of a cooked meal. How spoiled am I, to complain about my house being painted (at least a year overdue!), but what an ah-ha to realize how I crave the daily doses of all-day sunshine. I'm going to polish the windows the moment we can, buy some tiebacks for our curtains, and let that light flood in and bring me much-needed energy for these waning weeks of the school year.

  1. Yes, let the light flood in! Love that image! You've captured the shadowy feel of the house with the windows covered in this post.

  4. Soon enough, the light will be shining back on you.
This reminds me... I need to open the blinds in my office!
