Why did I wait til the very end
of the very last day
to get this last post done?
Our family has a tradition of sharing highs & lows around the dinner table, so I'll frame this last Slice with that familiar structure.
Today's high: running a focus group of high schoolers talking about how school can be done better. Their truth-telling was NO JOKE, and they absolutely have opinions!
High #2, just a few minutes ago, baking and eating a few chocolate chip cookies - warm cookies on a stormy night while I Slice!
Today's low: navigating an ugly situation with an elected official (and it's an inverse "high" - this situation is giving our team the opportunity to come together, stay calm, remember why we're doing our community work).
Low #2, realizing I dropped a responsibility last month, and need to loop back with a mea culpa, and soon. Ugh, going to the top of my list for tomorrow.
Highs.
Lows.
Both a part of life, and therefore a part of Slicing.
I'll be back next Tuesday, pen in hand, and hope to see many many folks return then.
