Electricity OUT

No electricity for another day, but so much bright light anyway.
Stayed at my parents last night. We watched Hoosiers, a feel good basketball movie with a happy ending; the best part was my Dad quoting his favorite lines - turns out he's seen Hoosiers a dozen times!
Celebrated my nephew's upcoming wedding - a flower-filled shower. They had the most lovely favor - everyone chose from a color collection of blooms, making a bouquet to take home.
Watched a powerful documentary, Si Pudiera Quedarme (If I Could Stay), a documentary following two women living in sanctuary in churches in Colorado. After the film, we Zoomed with one of the subjects, Jeanette Vizguerra, a woman of such strength, so centered on justice, on community, that her conviction and faith filled each of us in the room, fueling us to do our own work, to take action.
Tried a new restaurant for dinner (no power = no cooking!), a 70 year-old pizza place we've never been. A jovial waiter named Gus, a full table of Italian favorites, and tiramisu to go - to take back to my parents, where we're staying tonight, again.
No electricity yet, so Slicing late the past 24 hours, filled with light.

  1. Thanks for referencing the documentary you watched - and I hope your power has come back on! (ameliasb - wakeupandwrite)

  2. One of the things about commenting is that I don't always know what's happening in your life - but we had a power outage at school on Tuesday, so I had to write back to you today! I hope your power comes back soon, but it sounds like you're making the best of it. I love Hoosiers and, as I'm starting March Break, may have to put it on my list to watch again. The documentary sounds amazing, too. Is it available anywhere in particular? Thanks for your upbeat take on a complicated situation!

It was a windy day here yesterday, too. My electricity went off just long enough that I had to reset a few things. Sorry you had to go without yours so much longer, but it sounds like it worked out and you’ve had some good experiences.
