Didn't get Wordle

I did not get the Wordle yesterday.

I try not to see it as a sign that my brain is aging, that my memory glitches are actually serious (“What is that one book, the blue cover, she’s famous and her husband dies?”), that I need to start winding down my professional life and take on a low-stress hobby like, I don’t know, coloring.

I’m still at 98% - that’s a solid A, don’t you think? So it’s likely a fluke, an anomaly, a blip. The word really was too hard, I’m glad you asked - a rare letter AND a double letter AND just one vowel, and yes, of course I play in hard mode!

I heard my Dad gave up the New York Times Games for Lent, which is a big sacrifice for sure. Otherwise, I’d for sure let him know about the loss. Oh, definitely, I could mention it, but really, maybe I’ll let it be, no need for him to feel stressed, I mean, chances are he’d have struggled today too, and I don't want to remind him of what he's missing.

It's nice on the tracker, how you still get a star. Like, for sure I tried, so the star makes it clear I was giving it 100%. But it is empty, and that is a lonely reminder of, well, that hard word that tripped me up, broke my streak, sent me back to zero.

But hey, did I tell you? I got Wordle in 4 today.

  1. Ohhh-- I feel your pain. We share scores in our family, and there are rarely 6's, but there were the other day, and I'm betting we're talking about the same word. There were a LOT of options! This morning was like that too.

On a different note, I owe you an email and a HUGE thank you! It sounds like the book club was amazing. I'll be in touch, and I'll be there in April!

  2. I'm glad I'm not the only one who stresses over a missed Wordle! "Connections" really messes with my brain some days, but I'm a devoted fan of Spelling Bee! Thanks for sharing this slice. I definitely can relate!
