List of things you can do

I find taking action helps me feel less hopeless about state and national politics. If you want to join me, here are some ideas. (And a beautiful read on the discipline of hope is HERE.)

* Put a diverse book in a Little Free Library.

* Patronize your local library.

* Shop at an independent book store - in person or via Bookshop.org.

* Write postcards for candidates, issues, or voting reminders.

* Learn more about school board races and how to engage.

* Register voters. The League of Women Voters is an outstanding national organization doing this work.

* Work on a hotline to help folks vote (it can be so confusing). I volunteered here in 2024 and will be signing up for new training soon: https://866ourvote.org/

* Find a news source you can trust and keep updated. For me, I read Heather Cox Richardson and listen to the Ezra Klein podcast.

* Surround yourself with some like-minded folks who are action-oriented. I love being involved with Red Wine & Blue and getting training from Braver Angels. If you're in Ohio, I hope you'll check out Honesty for Ohio Education

* Read poetry, bake and share cookies, dance in your kitchen, light a special candle, journal, send a gratitude note - and do other caretaking so you can continue to take action.

What actions are helping you remain hopeful? I'd love to hear new ideas!
