Good Friday

Good Friday

Good trouble.

Trouble maker.

Make love, not war.

Love is the answer.

There are no easy answers.

Take it easy.

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

The Earth is the mother of all people, and all people should have equal rights upon it.

Get up, stand up... stand up for your right.

Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope.

No justice, no peace. Know justice, know peace.

Peace is not the product of terror or fear. Peace is not the silence of cemeteries. Peace is not the silent result of violent repression. Peace is the generous, tranquil contribution of all to the good of all.

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.

I was thinking about how we get from Good Friday, a day of grief, to Easter Sunday, a day of miracles and rejoicing; I was also reflecting on the grief and sadness and lack of relief in our world, and how activists like Mariame Kaba remind us that hope is a practice, not an emotion. I used that energy to move through quotes, through words, to miracles.

  1. This is beautiful and thought-provoking. The seamless way you knitted the quotes together is masterful. Life truly is a miracle that we too often take for granted.

    1. I am working to focus on miracles more - more noticing the glimmers & appreciating all that is good (while avoiding toxic positivity - the world definitely needs change!).
